Pros and cons of OutDoors GB - Offline OS Maps app for iPhone and iPad

OutDoors GB - Offline OS Maps app good for

I needed something to access maps for a hike across England and took a chance on this since it lets me access OS maps offline. I needed maps with more detail than Google Maps and when it comes to hiking in the UK nothing beats he OS maps. This app works great on my iPad 2, loads up quickly and when I zoom in everything happens instantly and I see a more detailed map. The interface is easy to work with, the ability to have all my maps offline is a major plus as well as being able to re-download any already purchased maps. The OS maps are a bit expensive if you want the 1:25k; the 1:50k is good enough for me though and the cost is reasonable. Overall a great app, with a nice slick interface, easy access to maps that automatically adjust their detail depending on your zoom, and works really fast. Just make sure you have a lot of space on the iPad if you are going to use a lot of maps (they are in the 100s MB and that is just for a partial map of England).
As avid hikers, my wife and I love OutDoors. The GPS tracking is first rate, we love planning our routes and the best feature - access to the OS maps. Were particularly fond of the new subscription service which provides access to all the maps
has all the UK national parks in good detail, and great gps functions.
Intalled and went out walking in Lake District, georeferencing is very precise and the interface extreemely intuitive. As a foreigner (brazilian) I never used a British OS map before.
This app is what map readers dreamed about 20 years ago because it solves the problem of knowing where you are. Everyone should learn to read a map and use a compass if they walk on unmarked trails, but if you have a map and the app, you can never get lost even if your battery goes dead. It is really cool that you can record your walks and find them again another day. This app is not cheap, but neither are the printed OS maps.
Love the product and how easy its been to download OS maps when I need them. Cant say enough good things.

Some bad moments

Virtually no content, only a shell from which you have to buy any maps or details...at prices of $13 and up each!
This product was advertised as coming with Great Britain National Park maps. Those maps never successfully downloaded and now the app wants to charge me for them. Avoid this product and dishonest company.
